Special Iftar/Jubilee dinner

On March 13, we organised a special iftar dinner in Utrecht. During Ramadan, iftar marks the moment after sunset when Muslims break their daily fast – a time of togetherness and connection.

Thanks in part to our volunteers Rami and Muhamet—who, among other things, provided a cozy space (Rami) and delicious food (Muhamet, via the Secu Foundation)—we were able to seat no fewer than 60 people at the table. A diverse group of participants from various Eet Mee initiatives came together: people matched through our platform, refugees from emergency shelters, participants in Taal aan Tafel, Vaste Gast (Talking at the Table) and from Come & Eat.

At the beginning, we briefly explored the meaning of fasting, both in Islam and in other religions, which provided new insights. This iftar was extra special because it was one of the anniversary dinners celebrating our 15th anniversary.
